Something New!

Hi! Welcome to 2023!
Going into a new year is exciting, daunting, and full of possibilities. My new year started off pretty much the opposite. At the beginning of December, I got a viral infection that lasted the entire month. Now I would get into the nitty-gritty of the pain, the expensive doctor visits and the anxiety but I'll save you from that. After that whole ordeal, I got a secondary infection. Then after the secondary infection, my symptoms started up again, so going into 2023 wasn't really as exciting as the new year should be. I pretty much stayed up to watch one firework and then went to bed. Going into the new year I didn't have my firework jump start or my champagne pop, it kind of felt like I snuck into the new year through a back door and somehow winded up in 2023. I know it sounds dramatic, but as a girl who loves to celebrate, it really did feel like I was going into the new year with a weight of feeling sick and disappointed. I was tempted to nonchalantly carry 2022 into this year with me, to resume as per usual and completely disregard the fact that it's a brand new year.
This was until my pastor preached a message on "Hit The Reset. " (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md4zEP8gkxw)
He mentioned that the enemy of resetting is to resume.
"The greater enemy to failing in your reset is just to resume"
I was so tempted to go on business as usual, but my God is the God of renewal!
How often do we do that, life happens and instead of choosing to actively reset and renew our minds, we resume. We stay stuck. But the God I serve has a better way for me.
Isaiah 43:18-20 18 “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. 19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Come on! We love a God and serve a God of the something new! We can let go of the former things, yesterday's failures, and walk into tomorrow with boldness.
In this verse, God did not want the Israelites to forget the exodus from Egypt. He makes it very clear in verse 16 that he has done miraculous things like making a way through the red sea and delivering the Israelites. However, God was telling them that they needed to look ahead in faith to the significant event that was about to take place rather than wallowing in the past.
He goes on to say:
"I will make a pathway through the wilderness."
God makes it so clear that HE will make a pathway, that HE will create rivers. All we need to do is trust him. It's not our job to make the pathway, our job is to simply walk in it.
If you enjoyed this blog post, it would be great if you could share it with someone who needs it!
You are loved, valued and needed.
