Hey, welcome to Wonder in the Whispers! I'm soo excited about today's blog post.
In the last few months, I've gotten such amazing feedback on Wonder in the Whispers, I love hearing your thoughts! So I decided to have a lil Q+A based on questions you've asked me. YAY! PSA: My thoughts/advice is based off on personal experience and little whispers I've received from God throughout the years.

1. When am I hearing Gods voice VS my own?
When you choose to make your voice louder you'll always hear your own.
When we feel like we don't hear Gods' voice we resort to using our own sight, using our own distorted view of reality, we want to see God in the BIG and we often manipulate situations to make it feel like its Gods voice.
In 1 Kings we see that Elija, a prophet of God is depressed and is desperate for his life to end, in his desperation he expects to see God in the BIG.
1 Kings 19:11-13 "11-12 Then he was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by.” A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake, and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper."
Gods voice was in the whisper
I love that, Gods voice is often a whisper and the more time we spend with God the more we come to realize that, but when our voice is louder and our thoughts and actions are louder we counteract the voice of God in our lives. Its often at times where we are busy and we take control of our own life that we silence the voice of God. God is a gentleman, he's not going to cause an earthquake to grab your attention.
2. How can I be happy in my singleness?
Ahhhh, your season of singleness is SOO important, its honestly the building blocks of any healthy relationship. if my 19 yrs of singleness has taught me anything its that you need to find fulfilment in your relationship with yourself and Jesus if Jesus isn't enough for you then no relationship ever will be, enjoy spending time on yourself, relationships are hard work and even harder if they're not made up of healthy individuals. 3. Tips for new Christian couples?
Girl same, haha
Here are some tips I'm trying to implement.
Assume the best in each other
Create a shared vision (what's the goal?)
Continue pursuing each other
Communicate effectively, learn each others style of communication
Forgive fast and outserve
I definitely don't get these right but progress over perfection!
4. How to choose Gods plan over my own?
Essentially choosing Gods plan is just living a life that is spirit-led, I did a workshop with Alex Seeley on how to be spirit-led - here's some goodness
KEYS in how you'll know its spirit lead:
1. You need to know the word
You won't learn to hear his voice if you don't know it.
We need to renew our mind to kingdom thinking
Romans 12:2 says
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
When you do this your thoughts will begin to line up with his thoughts. The flesh (your own plan) and the spirit are always at war, we need to give the spirit control
2. Surrender our will
One of the most difficult BUT rewarding things to do.
LET GO of your own agenda, I promise its not as good as Gods.
3. Delight in the Lord and then he'll give you the desire of your heart
When we delight, we say God is enough. We say that our plans and our will do not even compare to Gods plan When we delight it means his heart, becomes our heart and then His desires will become our desires.
4. Check your motives
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
When you are spirit lead it becomes about him, when making decisions check your motives!
5.Take a step of faith
He wants to co-labour with us! We cannot fully obey unless our hearts are FULLY tethered!
God cant work with a divided heart our hearts need to be tethered to his.
The reason you struggle to surrender your will is because you haven't fully surrendered to God. We need to live a lifestyle of submission and only then will you see the fruits of the spirit in your life.
5. Have you ever experienced a season without God?
What was it like and how did you get through?
There have definitely been seasons without God, these seasons were filled with confusion, hurt and trying to manipulate my own will and my own desires. Honestly, these seasons all look exactly the same and it starts with my own control. The most obvious season without God was at the end of grade 12, I had my eye on someone and knew that being in a relationship at that time wasn't Gods will for my life. But because my own will and desire was stronger than my spiritual strength at the time I pursued it. The casualties included two unnecessary broken hearts. Throughout the relationship my voice was louder than Gods, I felt sick and tired all the time, I knew I wasn't in the will of God and it was exhausting trying to lead my own life. What I didn't know during this time was that my best friend was praying for me and although I was numb to the wisdom of my friends and God, her prayers definitely worked. After that season I NEVER wanted to be outside the will of God. How I got through it - the prayers of my friends, my surrender to God and choosing to live a lifestyle of surrender.
Thank you soo muchh for all the questions, I love hearing from you guys!
