See, I am doing a new thing.

In my previous post, “Becoming New Wine,” I shared how I felt like I was in a preparation season, waiting on God’s next move within my career and relationships. It was a time of deep frustration, wrestling with hurt, timeline and learning to trust God’s timing.

Out of that season of waiting, I was prompted to write a six-day devotional called Becoming New Wine. And just six days later, I received a job offer.

Fast forward six months - I’m flourishing in my new job, recently engaged, and planning a future with my best friend. Only God can write a story like that.

In that devotional, I wrote about laying down the old, releasing memories, expectations, and attachments that no longer served God’s purpose. That act of surrender created space. And what does God do with empty space? He fills it.

Writing that devotional was my act of surrender, my way of saying, “God, I’m letting go of what was, so I can step into what You have for me.” And He truly met me there.

But here’s the thing, I’m learning that surrender happens daily. There are still moments where I get it wrong, where I dwell on the past and wear it like an old cardigan (okay, Taylor Swift). But truly, it reminds me of Isaiah 43:18–19

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?I am making a way in the wildernessand streams in the wasteland.”

God is doing a new thing. So stop pondering the past and start partnering with Him in your future.
