My Heart

God can love you more in a moment than other lovers could in a lifetime.

I can't even begin to describe how crucial understanding that phrase is - a simple phrase that holds so much weight.

No one can ever love you like Jesus can. No one can ever heal you like Jesus can. No one can even begin to know you like Jesus can. No one on this whole earth can ever fulfil you like Jesus can. No one. Absolutely no one comes close and you'd be lying to yourself if you think that anyone could. But yet, we expect others to. We put them in a position that only God qualifies for and then get disappointed when they inevitably fail.

Before going into my relationship with Ben, I went down on my knees and asked God if this is what he wanted for me. I was expecting a plain yes or no and was counting on a solid answer. Instead, God gave me a song that I began to sing, and at first, I was very confused by it, almost insulted by it. The phrase was "You're all I need, nothing else can compete"

I was stunned that God could even think that he would have to compete with anyone else and honestly disregarded and minimised how important that word was. It was only after a year of dating that I began to realize how easy it was for me to allow God to compete for my heart. How easy it was for someone else to take the place that is rightfully God's, how easy it was to expect from a human what only God can do. And how often do we find ourselves doing that - putting God in a position where he has to fight for our hearts. But alas, he continues to fight. While we remain unsatisfied in relationships, careers or success, God is waiting to envelop us with his love that fills every void, his love that stitches our disappointed hearts together, and his love that overflows in abundance. No one can ever love you like Jesus.

Take a moment now to invite God into your heart - especially the part of your heart that you've never given him access to and let him love you.

Luke 10:27

‘You must love the Lord God with all your heart, all your passion, all your energy, and your every thought."
